Readability Meter is an independent English readability tool made and maintained by the Readability Meter team.

Our aim is to make editing clearer: paste a draft, check reading ease and grade-level estimates, and inspect sentence highlights alongside the underlying text statistics.

What the tool does

Analysis takes place in your browser. Formula results describe text structure; they do not measure a person’s reading ability, verify facts or guarantee comprehension. Syllables are estimated, and short samples are less reliable.

Our approach

The homepage keeps this single task in one place. It uses published readability formulas and names the counting assumptions, limits and supported file types in its methodology section.
